Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can InfraCore® structures be repaired easily?

A: Small damage, like surface damage and holes can easily be repaired on site and are similar to wood repairs. The surface is completely restored, leaving no traces of repair.

Q: Is InfraCore® fireproof?

A: As with other characteristics of composite materials, the fire resistance can be determined by choosing the right mixture of resins, gelcoats and flame retardants and by covering the laminate with fire-proof toplayers. That way, almost any degree of resistance to fire or fire-propagation can be achieved. In general, the fire-resistancy of composites is very good. That is because the load-bearing qualities of a composite structure remain in tact for much longer than those of a steel bridge during a fire.

Q: Can graffiti easily be removed from InfraCore® products?

A: Yes. The ultra strong, repellant surface of composites makes sure all kinds of ink are easily removed. None of the materials used in the composite are subject to solvents or paint strippers. A firm spray of water is usually sufficient to remove any ink.

Q: Is InfraCore® sustainable?

A: All materials in InfraCore® are chemically inert. None of them contain chemicals or compounds that harm the environment. At the end or their life-cycle, all of the used materials can be grinded to be used as a filler in other artifical materials or burnt in an incinerator, releasing an amount of energy similar to the amount that was put into the product using crude oil.

The use of fibre-reinforced composites instead of concrete makes the over-all sustainability score of a project higher, thanks to a much smaller carbon dioxide emission.
