Steel bridge renovation contest

The Dutch ministry of Roads and Waterways (Rijkswaterstaat) is looking for smart ways to renew a number of steel bridges they own. The main objective is to minimize inconvenience to the daily traffic.

The innovation contest is meant to stimulate commercial parties to come up with new renovation techniques. Ideas can be posted in three categories:

1. Ideas to speed up the process of working with High Pressure Concrete(s)
2. New technologies to strengthen steel bridges
3. Traffic stimulation techniques, to help speed up traffic during bridge restoration periods

The call for papers ends on april 10th 2009. Participation is open to all, except for members of the jury and the companies with which members of the jury are affiliated.

The contest is a succesful way for Rijkswaterstaat to develop new ways of maintaining the roads and waterways with commercial parties. The winner of the contest will receive a prize of € 500.000.
